Juan Andreu Caules, who had his modest bundle of clothing ready, contracted matrimony in the parish church of Saint Maria of Mahon, on the 5 March 1768, a few weeks before his departure for America. Let us see the translation of the corresponding certificate: the 5th day of March, 1768 the Rvd. Dionisio Garnes, Pblo. and Vicar, finished the three proclamations (marriage banns) and after an elapsed space of 24 hours without any impediments revealed with the license by the Most Reverend and Most Illustrious Senor Vicar General, assisted at the matrimony where Juan Andreu, single, son of Juan, deceased, and of Angela Caules, living, to Catalina Pons, maiden, daughter of Miquel, living and Francisca Coll, deceased, from the parish of Mercadel. Witnesses were Antonio Pons and Juan Arnau.
The children of this matrimony were born in Florida and from them continue descendants of the Andreus of Menorca.
