III. MARCOS ANDREU. The actual state of the books from Alayor prevent us from knowing with accuracy when he was born. We have his certificate of marriage to Juana Llina on April 13, 1597. Marcos Andreu, son of Jaime and Pereta, deceased, was betrothed to Juana Llinana, maiden, daughter of Nadal and Celia Llina, deceased. The witnesses present were Mossen Juan Rotger and Juan Llobera. His death certificate is very interesting because it assumes economical comfort.
On November 13, 1613, Marcos Andreu, farmer, having received all the sacraments, was buried in the cemetery of the parochial church of Alayor. He left a testament of his possessions with the "discreto" (the title given to all notaries, and indeed he was very fit at his profession) Mossen Juan Saura, notary, (this notary from Alayor has a son named Father Diego Saura, who was a member of the company of Jesus - Jesuits - and was sent to the Philippines where he was martyred by the Indigious - natives- on the 6th of November of the same year.) He - Marcos - appointed as executrix his wife Juana, designating for his funeral and suffrage (that word again. Is it for prayer for his soul?) The sum of five pounds of Mallorca currency, arranging that his body be
buried in the church or in the cemetery of Alayor, and that five low masses be performed on the privileged altar of Saint Jorge of the Parochial Church of Citadel, today known as the Cathedral Basilica of Menorca. Five low masses celebrated on the altar of Our Lady of the Rosary Parochial Church of Alayor were added. Other additions were five masses on the altar of the Consecrated Name of Jesus of said church, for which masses he only left (money?) for one time, and not for any other.(?not for the others?) He also left the Magnificent Rector (parish priest) or to his venerable vicar five salary for the parochial rights (?church services performed?).
